Objectives: To formulate the “Nagaland Afforestation & Eco-Development Project”, a project listed in the Rolling Plan of the Japanese ODA Loan Projects.

 

Nrmc India Role

  • A detailed review of secondary literature pertaining to the social, economic, political, environmental and climate change aspects in the state was undertaken as part of the study.

  • A detailed review of Detailed Project Report prepared by the Forest Department was also undertaken.

  • Interactions with different stakeholders in the state –Government officials, civil society groups and communities were held through one- to one interactions, sharing workshops and focussed group discussions.

  • Field visits were undertaken to sites where the forest department had implemented joint forest management and biodiversity conservation projects and interactions were held with forest officials and communities on institutional structures, fund flows and technical forestry components.

  • A situational analysis report detailing the social, institutional, forestry, rural livelihood and climate change aspects were completed as part of the study.

  • Based on the findings of the situational analysis and interaction with clients, the project design was detailed under the different chapters. The forestry interventions, livelihood and income generation interventions, implementation schedule & time line, institutional structures, budgets, fund flow mechanism, infrastructure support provisions, capacity building aspects, monitoring and evaluation measures, MIS & GIS provisions, project management support, consultancy services, financial management aspects, etc. were finalised as part of the project design
